A Good Beginner's Computer: HP Pavilion P6720f Desktop PC
As people look at getting a computer, many want their computer to do certain things well. They may want to watch videos online, surf the net, play games or just a place to store their digital photos.
A nice beginning computer system is the HP Pavilion p6720f Desktop PC. This PC comes with a good sized hard drive and plenty of RAM but it doesn't have a powerful graphics card instead it is shared with the processor. This is a desktop for people on a budget, and not too interested in gaming. There won't be much computer gaming, but that will give you the chance concentrate on your computer time.
Several of the features of this HP computer are the $600 price tag, a 2.9GHz AMD Phenom ll 840T quad-core processor, 6 GB of RAM installed, and a 1TB hard drive, which is a lot for a budget machine. Furthermore, this HP computer comes ready with 802.11n Wi-Fi, ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics, and a DVD burner.
The tower features a plain, average black chassis, but the front is made of glossy black plastic. An extra bay is situated underneath the DVD burner, for expansion when you want to add a Blu-ray player. It is approximately 7 inches wide, with the power button on the top, and not too remarkable in appearance. The HP Pavilion p6720f Desktop PC has a mouse and keyboard set that are wired and rather generic. Unlike a lot of new PCs, you aren't going to find too much software included. It is bundled with some software demos and the excellent HP MediaSmart video and music playback suite.
There are a few useful ports on the front, with a multi-format card reader bay being one of them. You will also find two USB 2.0 ports, along with the microphone and headphone jacks. The HP Pavilion p6720f Desktop PC lacks more multimedia type ports such as Firewire or thunderbolt. In the rear of the PC, it has DVI and VGA ports, a digital audio (S/PDIF) port and four USB 2.0 ports. Also, 7.1 surround sound support is included. If you are looking for some room for expansion, you will be disappointed. Inside the case, the wires are all bunched in the center. There isn't a great deal that can be done when it comes to adding more parts. There is a place to add a video card.
The HP Pavilion p6720f, is the wrong computer system for you if you are wanting to play PC games. The integrated ATI graphics just isn't enough for the quality essential for your games. Budget PCs are not designed for computer gaming. If you need a computer for high end games, then something like the Micro Express MicroFlex 25B is suited for that but it will cost you several hundred dollars more. The Pavilion p6720f, for the cost, has enough hard drive, and a quad-core processor that will give you a good deal of speed. For what I was looking for and the budget I had, this computer was the right option. This PC is very easy to use, very fast and it didn't hurt my pocketbook.
