Another EBook Book Reader Manufactured By The Computer Giants Acer In Line To Join Kindle
Acer Inc., no bodies fool when it comes to competing in the computer space, have announced their plans to go into the ebook book reader arena later this year.
Acer director Jim Wong, president of the company's IT Goods division, outlined the tactics during an interview with Bloomberg at Acer's headquaters in Taipei.
On the eve of Apple's purported entrance into the tablet sweeps-a device that would serve ebook readers as well as others-Wong also said the company will what's more offer "hundreds" of apps online, programs which should support Google's Android program, currently running on several Acer goods, as well as having support for Microsoft's Windows OS.
By July, Acer will be likely to release an e book reader with a 6-inch monochrome display, Mr. Wong told Bloomberg. "Amazon kindle and Barnes & Noble; they are US based. In Western Europe and Asia-Pacific we have publishers to work with, and nearly all of them are content owners," he said. Acer could go up against models including the Amazon Kindle , B and N Inc.'s Nook and Sony's Prs-30 and so it will be easy to compare ebook reader models.
Acer also has the Apple "iSlate"-if it hits the stores-in its sights. "We're producing something, and we will observe what happens" J.T. Wang, Acer's CEO, said in the report. "We are going to work what's more in a Windows world or in Google's definite OS space."
